Canary Wharf

I was generally disappointed with the landscape of Canary Wharf. It left me feeling expectant and unfulfilled: large empty, stark spaces that were drowned in the shadows of the towering buildings. There also didn't seem to be enough unity between the different spaces of the area. Again, similar to Jubilee Park, orgainic curving paving forms seem to miss the mark. Surely an indulgent landscape of hard lines and maybe exciting variation of topography would seem more appropriate for the iconic vertical landmark. Just because the vertical axis is powerful, it doesn't mean the horizontal should be abandoned to the benign.
