Jean Prouve, Maison Tropicales at the Tate

The ultimate in flat pack accessories. Designed in 1951, the Maison Tropicales was intended to address the problem of housing shortages in West Africa. 3 prototypes were made but although intended to be economically viable they were in fact no cheaper than locally produced housing.

The view of St Pauls and the Thames was abstracted by the blue windows which created a very different conception of the landscape. What do different landscapes look like in different colours? Would certain colours suit specific landscapes? I need some coloured gels!!
